Real faced a tough competitor last week and came up two goals short of a victory. Today was about getting back to the plan of attack and working together as they always do. When watching Real, a spectator can sometimes lose count of the consecutive passes. This fundamental is echoed by Coach McMaster at Real's weekly training session. Today's opponent was Dunedin Sterling 1st Division. The away game was played on a narrow field which can sometimes give Real possession problems since they are so used to 120 yards by 80 yards (their home field). The first twenty minutes were a bit ragged by both teams. Real was pressing hard while keeping Dunedin from attacking. The first couple shots were driven right to the Sterling goalkeeper. 25 minutes into the first half, Real would break the scoreless game with a nicely played ball from Sean Maloney to Adam DeClerico. Adam dribble down the sideline and picked out forward Justin Niemann. The ball was first-timed by Niemann into the back of Dunedin's net. The first half would come to a stop with the score resting at 1 - 0. |

SFC Real hosted Aztecs on Sunday November 2nd 2008. Aztecs came into the game sitting in 3rd place in the FSSL 1st Division. Real anticipated a challenge but had no idea they would have their undefeated record challenged. Real came into the game 7 - 0 - 0 and the team was being mentioned as a top contender in FSSL, across all divisions. Aztecs would start the game knowing full well they were playing a good team. Their confidence boosted them to the first 2 goals of the match. A penalty kick conceded by Real would be put past goalkeeper Ronnie Zorger Jr. Not more than 2 minutes later, a strange but effective goal would be scored. For the first time in 8 league games Real would find themselves trailing by 2 goals. |

SFC Real posted another win on Sunday, October 19th 2008. Defender Richard Hynes who recently had his first child, Mia Hynes, scored the game winner after Real was able to fend off the attack of the Clearwater Chargers. The first goal for Real came off a long punt by goalkeeper Ronnie Zorger Jr. Forward Jacobo Becerra ran onto the ball, popped it over the keeper and kept stride to knock it into an empty net. Along with that goal Jacobo managed to find the post a few times but was unable to add to his 7 goals on the season (2nd leading scorer). Chargers would battle back and receive a questionable penalty from a foul inside the box. Regardless of the referee's decision, Clearwater would score to make it 1-1. |
